But he took it too far as the Toon took on Chelsea at St James' Park on Saturday.

Reece James was the recipient of a nasty foul by the tough midfielder that seemed to belong in a wrestling ring.

After the England full back danced around his opponent, Joelinton came biting back with a challenge.

However, that challenge appeared to be more like a clothesline you would have seen The Undertaker pull off in his day.

The foul earned Joelinton a yellow card, but left fans speechless online.

One wrote: "Joelinton yellow card against Chelsea Was yellow card enough?"

A second posted: "Did Joelinton just clothesline Reece James."

A third shared: "Joelinton hit the JBL clothesline from hell on James."

While a fourth added: "That was a clothesline from Joelinton."

The incident saw Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall get involved with James, who appeared to shout "Sit down" to the coach.

That moment was the precursor to the Blues skipping having a game to forget.

James was given his marching orders in the 73rd minute after picking a second yellow card.

Eddie Howe's side were in ruthless form against Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Alexander Isak gave them the lead after 13 minutes, however Raheem Sterling pulled the scores level in the 23rd minute.

In the second half, Newcastle ran riot.

Jamal Lascelles put them ahead on the hour mark, before pantomime villain Joelinton got in on the act just a minute later.

Anthony Gordon put the icing on the cake for the home side with a fourth seven minutes from time.
