TOTTENHAM are considering a swoop for Uruguay international Sebastian Caceres, according to reports.

Summer signing Mickey Van de Ven suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month and is expected to be out of action until the new year.

Full-back Ivan Perisic is also unavailable with an ACL injury.

And Ryan Sessegnon is among the absentees with a thigh injury.

With several players set for a spell on the sidelines, Tottenham are now on the hunt for defensive reinforcements.

And according to football reporter Mike McGrath, Caceres is considered a target.

The Uruguay centre-back, who plays for Liga MX club America, has just one year remaining on his current contract.

Newcastle and Aston Villa are also understood to be interested in the 24-year-old.

Caceres made his Uruguay debut in a 1-0 defeat to Iran last year and has since starred in nine international appearances.

Reports claim that Club America want a minimum of £4.3million for the defender.

Despite Tottenham's flying start to the Premier League season, Ange Postecoglou's side have slipped to fifth in the table.

Spurs suffered their third successive loss to Aston Villa on Sunday following defeats against Chelsea and Wolves.
