INSULTING remarks made by actor Laurence Fox about a female journalist were the most complained about 2023 TV moment, a watchdog has revealed.
His misogynistic comments on a Dan Wootton Tonight episode in September led to 8,867 viewers lodging a protest, Ofcom said.
Fox had said of political reporter Ava Evans, who was not present: “Who would want to s**g that?”
Fox and presenter Wootton, who both later apologised, were suspended. Ofcom is still investigating — and Fox was sacked.
The incident narrowly beat Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh’s comments made during ITV’s coverage of the King’s coronation, which received 8,421 complaints.

She had remarked about the royals’ balcony appearance being “terribly white”.
ITV’s Good Morning Britain came third with 2,391 complaints.
