Liverpool are enjoying another season to remember under Jurgen Klopp, as they are still in contention to win four major trophies.

The Reds will sit at the top of the Premier League on Christmas Day if they beat Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday. They also eased into the last 16 of the Europa League and reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals with a 5-1 home win against West Ham on Wednesday.

Winning the FA Cup might be tricky, as Liverpool face a third-round trip to Arsenal, but they're still in the hat. Although things are going well for Klopp's team at the moment, the German may need to dip into the transfer market in January to freshen up his squad. With that in mind, here are the latest headlines from the red half of Merseyside...

Liverpool Barella hunt

Liverpool are one of three clubs keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to Fichajes. The 26-year-old, who is under contract until June 2026, is struggling to agree a new contract with Inter to quash interest from the Premier League.

Chelsea and Newcastle are also thought to be after Barella, who helped Italy win the Euros in 2021. He's also won five trophies at Inter - including the Serie A title three seasons ago - and helped the Italian giants reach last term's Champions League final.

Barella, who won Serie A's Best Midfielder award last season and has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or twice, is valued at around £65million. He has previously played for Como and Cagliari, with Inter signing him from the later club - initially on loan - in July 2019.

Andre ready for move

Who do you think Liverpool should sign in January? Let us know in the comments below!

Brazilian midfielder Andre is ready for a transfer to Europe, according to ESPN. The 22-year-old, who has won four caps for his country, turned down a move to Liverpool in the summer to help Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores and reach the Club World Cup final. Fluminense take on Manchester City in the final of the latter tournament on Friday.

It's claimed Liverpool's interest in Andre has softened following the arrival Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo during the summer. Liverpool are highly unlikely to sign a midfielder - including Barella - in January.

Klopp's "favourite player"

Klopp said West Ham's Jarrod Bowen is "probably my favourite player besides all my players" ahead of Liverpool's thumping victory on Wednesday. Bowen's lovely curling effort was the only goal Klopp's defence conceded in the quarter-final.

Bowen, 27, has previously been tipped to succeed Mohamed Salah. The 31-year-old's Liverpool future is uncertain thanks to interest from Al-Ittihad, who might make another offer in January. The Saudi club saw a £150m bid rejected in the summer.

Although Liverpool turned down that offer - which came at the end of the window - they may say yes if the timing is right. Klopp's comments about Bowen will only add to speculation, but it would take something remarkable for a deal to be done in January.
