Lance Bass has teased that an *NSYNC reunion is closer than fans think.

The singer revealed the legendary boy band have been quietly discussing a reunion. He spilled the beans while playing Rent Free with Bilt Rewards founder and CEO Ankur Jain. Lance said: "We are talking about it and I hope to have some good news at some point. "

The star wouldn't confirm the exact date though. Ankur teased: "Like on January 1, on rent day?" to which Lance responded, "Give us a little more time than that." It's not the first time the supergoup have teased a reunion.

*NSYNC set the rumour mills going that they were set to get back together after Britney Spears' bombshell memoir Woman In Me slammed frontman Justin Timberlake.The group were set to do some promotion for the new Trolls movie - including with group interviews in front of the camera.

According to reports, Justin joined bandmates JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass on the promo trail. The reunion was reported by TMZ, with sources saying Universal studios "obviously know how popular they are as a unit".

Justin faced heavy criticism in recent weeks after Britney unveiled a string of claims about him in her memoir. It included a string of bombshells about their doomed romance with her claiming he broke up with her over text.

The award-winning boy band rose to fame in the 90s. The group had a string of hit singles including Tearin’ Up My Heart and It’s Gonna Be Me from 1995 to 2004.

While they haven't made music in over two decades, they have reunited previously. One time saw them perform at the 2013 VMAs and they also regrouped to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018.

Justin, 42, meanwhile has carved out not only a successful solo career but a career in Hollywood since the band parted ways in 2004. He has released five solo studio albums and had a string of hit singles including Cry Me A River, Senorita, SexyBack and Mirrors.

He has also appeared in box office hit movies including Friends With Benefits, Bad Teacher, and The Social Network. He also headlined the Super Bowl LII halftime show.
