How many memories, how many years have passed, it really seems that time has flown by, how much I would like to continue playing. I don’t think I will ever be able to explain the feeling that I will have for life for rugby and from that day, 91 to today, 2023, I have always tried to be the best rugby player possible!”

Parisse played junior rugby and his first senior division in his hometown for Club Universitario de La Planta.

The No.8 started his professional career playing for Treviso in 2003 while they competed in the National Championship of Excellence — Italy's top professional domestic league.

In 2005, Parisse decided to join a host of his Italian teammates at Top 14 giants Stade Francais.

He went on to make 265 appearances for the French club, which he left in 2019.

Parisse finished his club career at Toulon, making 65 appearances for the side between 2019 and 2023.

The flanker was first given the captaincy of the Italian national side in 2008 at the age of 24, the same year he became the first Italian player to be nominated for IRB Player of the Year.

By the time he received the honour, he had already made over 50 appearances for his country, having made his Test debut in 2002.

Parisse made 142 international appearances in total following his debut against the All Blacks 22 years ago, making him the fourth-most capped international player of all time, scoring an impressive 83 points for his national team.

Where is Sergio Parisse now?

Parisse is currently the lineout coach for French club Toulon — the same side he finished his glittering playing career with.

He played for the French giants between the years of 2019 and 2023.
