Yet he has already detailed his back-story on Instagram, uploading a series of snaps from his wartime days and detailing the moment that left him "disabled."

We previously reported how the star, who fought in Afghanistan, battled severe PTSD which meant he rarely left the house alone.

Jonny shared a snap showing him standing on the top of a tank, with his left leg amputated and a prosthetic limb in its place.

In an emotional message, The Traitors star shared the snap was taken six years ago and wrote: "It’s strange how my memories of Afghanistan are getting further away yet it feels as the years go by I remember things more vividly.

"Another year passes and today I have officially been “disabled” for 6 years. The morning of the 5th March 2014 when I woke up was another day in Afghanistan, I had no idea that in a few hours the life I knew would end 'in a bang' I would be faced with so many problems, mentally and physically ahead.

"I sit here today 6 years later looking back, it hasn’t been easy and it still isn’t easy. I try my hardest to get on with it and hide behind a smile but if truth be told problems don’t become easier… you have to become stronger."

In 2013, during his first tour of Afghanistan, Jonny was at the wheel of a Warthog, an armoured vehicle, when he hit an explosive.

Forensics later showed that the device was between 60 to 80kg and had blown the vehicle 14-foot into the air.

After coming back down to the ground, he realised his left leg had been crushed.

In his caption, he added: "Everyday I have to force my self to be a little bit stronger otherwise the nights get longer and the days get harder. I have achieved so much since the s**t-day.

"I have had two of the most amazing children my daughter Amalie and my son Maverick. Without the support from my wife, family and friends, 100 percent I would not be here today where I am.

"The main lessons I’ve learnt from my injuries is that no matter how sorry you feel for yourselves or how s**t you think your life is there is always someone much worse than you smiling away 'getting on with it.'

"If we dwell on our problems it will affect many people but if we own our problems and get on with them you will inspire many more and help more people than you realise.

"5th March 2014 the day OUR vehicle hit an improvised explosive device and were ambushed by the Taliban - f**k you."

In a separate post, tagged in at Afghanistan's Lashkar Gah, he revealed the man who helped to save his life.

In another emotional caption, accompanying a snap showing the pair together, he put: "This man that is stood next to me on the left may not look like much to some.

"This man helped save my life and carried me on a stretcher through I.E.D ridden land whilst the Taliban shot at us.

"He then drove me in his vehicle to a helicopter to get me to safety.

"Without this guy that day would of been a lot worse."

Jonny previously admitted he didn’t realise that his left leg had been crushed during the horror incident.

He said: “I only noticed when a friend asked me where I was hurting.

"Suddenly it felt like boiling water had been poured down my boot and I had searing pain up my whole leg.

"That was when I started to panic, my foot was like mush, the bones were completely destroyed."

Meanwhile, he is no stranger to reality TV.

He recently starred in BBC Two series The Secret Helpers in which ordinary people facing a difficult time were coached by a group of advisers, including two retired New York police officers, an Irish nun and a South African traditional healer.

Bookies gambling.com have placed Jonny in the middle of the pack when it comes to The Traitors triumph.

He has odds of 10/1 - or nine per cent - to be the first contestant to be eliminated from the series, which starts on Wednesday.
