WATERLOO Road has been thrilling fans since it first kicked off on BBC One in 2006.

The show - which returned with a reboot in 2023 - follows the lives of the pupils and staff at a fictional school.

Where is Waterloo Road filmed?

Waterloo Road is filmed entirely in Greater Manchester.

The show was previously filmed at a real school.

However, the BBC aren't disclosing the exact location of the where the rebooted series was shot, other than it was in Manchester.

From series one to seven, the show was shot at a school located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, with Jason Merrells starring as the first head teacher of the school.

Filming took place in Kirkholt Estate at the former Top Hill School. 

From series eight to Series ten the school was located in Greenock, Scotland.

Waterloo Road is both filmed AND set in Greater Manchester.

The show focuses on the lives of the kids and teachers from in and around the fictional Waterloo Estate.

The original show ran from 2006 to 2015, before its big return in 2023.

The show face topics such as teen homelessness because of the cost of living, being LGBTQ+, racism, sexism, and mental health.

The show also sees kids and teachers navigating through tough times, and hard hitting issues.

Speaking about returning to Waterloo Road, leading actress Angela Griffin told the BBC in 2023: "I have thoroughly enjoyed stepping back into school and taking Kim Campbell back on again, but, in all honesty, it feels like a brand-new job.

"It doesn't feel like I've gone back in time. I absolutely feel like I'm Kim Campbell rooted in 2023. She's a different woman.

"She's a different teacher. I mean, well, she's the head for example, which uses a completely different skill set than to be head of pastoral."

How can I watch Waterloo Road?

Season 13 of Waterloo Road kicked off on January 2, 2023, and new episodes will air every Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One.

However, the entire series is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer right now.

The previous seasons are also available to stream on the platform.
