Masked thieves steal £20,000 and pet dog in violent home raid

A family targeted by machete wielding thieves who stole £20,000 and their pet dog have been left to catch the gang themselves after police closed the case just one day later.

Nurse Sashi Shutt, 40, was pinned against the wall of her home in Ruislip, west London, last Monday after coming home to find a gang rifling through her things.

They forced their way into the home opposite a military base at 9am believing Sashi’s RAF officer husband Jason Shutt had left the house.

Around £20,000 worth of valuables, including watches and jewellery, were stolen from the family home, along with pet pug Ozzie.

Daughter Serena Shutt told Metro: ‘My dad was in work, my brothers were at school and my step-mum had left but came back because she had forgotten something.

‘She came back in, heard some suspicious noises when all of a sudden she was pinned against the wall with a machete against her throat.’

The gang warned Sashi to not make a sound as they ran off with the stolen goods, but the family soon discovered Ozzie was missing.

They hoped once police were able to find the gang, they will be able to find their dog.

But detectives found no fingerprints or traces of DNA, the case was closed as there were ‘no means of finding the suspects’.

Serena Shutt, daughter of RAF hero Jason Shutt, said the family can’t ‘eat, sleep or think properly’ knowing their beloved dog is still missing.

She has been left door knocking the local community and even walked to nearby traveller camps, pleading with anyone who may have doorbell footage to come forward.

‘I am putting myself in potentially dangerous situations but we have been left completely to it,’ Serena said.

‘I am doing the police’s job. I have been door knocking but no one has seen him, we are devastated.’

The family have since been relocated by the RAF as Sashi was too traumatised to stay in the house.

Serena said: ‘My step-mum is so traumatised she has had to go on medication. These robbers have gotten away with turning our lives completely upside down.

‘We just want Ozzie back, we don’t care about the rest of it. He is eight-years-old, fawn coloured, neutered and chipped.

‘Officers swiftly attended the scene and spoke to the victim. Detectives from the West Area’s Burglary and Robbery Team have since explored all lines of enquiry.

‘No arrests have been made, but we continue to appeal for any information which would enable us to revisit the investigation.

‘An image of the family’s dog, that appeared to go missing during the incident, has been circulated to Met officers in an effort to help locate it.’
