TESCO have urgently recalled a popular £2.20 item over a serious allergy risk.
The supermarket giant has pulled a batch of Tesco 18 Cupcakes from their shelves because the label does not declare soya as an ingredient.
A nationwide cupcakes alert was issued by Tesco tonightCredit: TescoThis poses a risk to those with an allergy to soya, which can in severe cases, lead to anaphylaxis, which can kill if not treated urgently.
Anaphylaxsis UK warned "Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction. It can happen seconds or minutes after you’ve been exposed to something you’re allergic to.
"The immune system releases a flood of chemicals that can cause the body to go into shock. Blood pressure drops suddenly, and the airways narrow, blocking your breathing.

"Anaphylaxis needs to be treated right away with an injection of epinephrine. If it isn’t treated right away, it can be deadly.
"If you don't have epinephrine, you need to go to an emergency room immediately. If anaphylaxis isn't treated right away, it can be fatal.
"The immune system starts to collapse, blood pressure drops and the airway can tighten so the person can't breathe and loses consciousness.
"Less severe reactions include hives, eczema or swelling and rashes on the skin, runny nose and sneezing, red or watery eyes, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea."
Tesco said "Please do not consume this product and return it to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
"Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on 0800 505 555."
The affected cakes have a batch code of 24026. They are best before February 27, 2024.
In a Food Standards Agency recall notice it said "Tesco is recalling Tesco 18 Cupcakes because some packs have been mispacked with Tesco 12 Party Cupcakes that contain soya, which is not mentioned on the label.
"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya."
