LEGOLAND fans have been given an exciting sneak peek at a brand new £10million rollercoaster, which will be opening to the public this year.

The Berkshire-based theme park's latest addition, called Minifigure Speedway, will be its fastest rollercoaster to date.

Last year, Legoland Windsor revealed snippets of information about the new ride, which will open at the theme park this Easter.

Legoland Windsor claims that its latest rollercoaster will be the first Lego duelling coaster in the world.

The duelling coaster will feature two teams, Team Legends and Team Allstars, who will race against each other in both forwards and reverse - with a winner being crowned each time.

Inspired by Speedway Circuits from around the globe, the Minifigure Speedway will be able to reach speeds of up to 56km/h (34mph).

Construction work on the £10million rollercoaster is already well underway.

A series of new images have been released by the theme park, giving theme park fans a glimpse into what they can expect.

The photos feature Roxie - the tallest Lego Minifigure in the world.

Standing at 10m and weighing a whopping 6 tonnes, Roxie, who is wearing a racing suit, is the official mascot for the brand-new attraction.

Parts of the blue and red tracks can be seen behind the giant Lego figure.

The images show a series of twists, turns, dips and bends on the two tracks.

Helen Bull, Divisional Director at the Legoland Windsor Resort, said: "It’s a big day for all the team at the Resort to see the world’s tallest minifigure, Roxie, take pride of place in our new attraction, Minifigure Speedway.

"There’s nowhere else in the world you can see Roxie, she’s entirely bespoke to us here at LEGOLAND Windsor – we can’t wait for everyone to see her!"

Hannah ‘Phiz’ Phizacklea, who is the Lead Creative on Minifigure Speedway at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, was also excited by the prospect of unveiling Roxie to the public.

She added: "Roxie is a strong female role model, and it was important we created an iconic character that children can look up to – literally!

"Minifigure Speedway brings a real thrill element to the park especially for older kids who will love the competitiveness of racing against each other as one of the All Stars or Legends."

This isn't the only new attraction to open at Legoland Windsor later this year, as a brand-new holiday park is also set to open.

The new accommodation will open to the public in May 2024 - with overnight stays on sale now.

There will be 130 holiday lodges and 20 camping barrels on the 10-acre site, with prices starting at £295 for a family of four.

While most lodges will have bed space for between two to five guests, 10 premium lodges will be able to sleep up to seven people.

During the February half-term, families can attend Brick Days on select days spanning from February 10 to March 11, 2024.

New rides at other UK theme parks

Legoland Windsor isn't the only UK theme park stepping up its offering in 2024.

The biggest and fastest rollercoaster in the UK is due to launch at Thorpe Park.

Hyperia is expected to be ready sometime at the beginning of the year, although an exact date is yet to be been confirmed.

Elsewhere, thrill-seeker favourite, Nemesis, is set to reopen as Nemesis Reborn at Alton Towers.

Meanwhile, a brand-new water ride will open at Paultons Park this summer.

The ride, which is called Splash Lagoon, is a Jurassic-themed flume ride.

Set to open in May, the flume ride promises to introduce kids to different species of dinosaurs, while also taking them through twisting rapids and down a final drop.
