ARSENAL flop Marquinhos has signed for Brazilian side Fluminense with "formal documents" are being prepared.

The 20-year-old joined the North London club in June 2022 as he signed a five-year contract in a deal worth around £3million from Sao Paulo.

But he has only made six appearances, scoring once, since arriving at the Emirates.

Brazil U23 international Marquinhos was loaned out to Championship side Norwich, where he played 11 times and grabbed a single goal, last term.

After returning to Arsenal in the summer, Mikel Arteta sent him back out on loan - this time to Ligue 1 outfit Nantes.

However, Marquinhos was recalled by the Gunners last month after he featured just five times for the French side.

We then reported in the week how Fluminese were attempting to secure a loan to buy deal with Arsenal for the attacker.

Now their manager Fernando Diniz has confirmed that the signing is imminent ahead of the Brazilian transfer window closing later this month.

He said: “Marquinhos is probably coming back. Fluminense signed very well this window.

“I am very happy with who we have signed at the beginning of the year.”

Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that it is just a “matter of time” until it is completed.

He wrote on X: “Fluminense are preparing formal documents for Marquinhos deal to be completed with Arsenal.

“Loan move agreed and also confirmed by Flu manager Diniz, matter of time.”
