Alan, 59, is accepting offers over £385,000 and could make at least £35,000 on the deal.

A source said: “It’s a beautiful place. It’s very secluded and has an incredible walled garden. Nobody would even know you were there.

“That’s maybe what attracted Alan to it in the first place.

“It’s been really tastefully decorated. The buyer wouldn’t need to change a thing.

"Plus you can say a real A-lister once lived in your cottage.”

The cottage has a spacious living area, with pictures revealing his smart red tartan suite, wood-burning stove and an airy piano room.

The walls are decorated with modern art paintings and it has three upstairs bedrooms.

Online ads describe it as offering “old-world charm with modern conveniences”.

Alan had been living in New York but wanted to return to his homeland.

He bought the pad three years ago from late Braveheart actor Ralph Riach, who died in 2022 at 86.

It comes after the Hollywood actor was spotted at a Scots airport last month.

The actor looked relaxed at Edinburgh Airport amid the travel chaos during Storm Isha as he sat on a chair engrossed in his tablet.
