IN Steve Wright's tragic final days he posed for selfies with pals and shared his favourite love songs.
But the BBC radio legend, who died on Monday, was said to have been doing so while he battled a "broken heart".
Steve's family shared the devastating news of his death on Tuesday. He was 69.
Just one day before he died, Steve played his favourite love songs for listeners in preparation for Valentine's Day.
During the show, the legend signed off saying: "I'll be back for more love songs next Sunday.

On his final Sunday Love Songs show, which was said to have "brought joy to millions", Steve welcomed listeners in his usual cheery way - singing along to the tunes.
He went on to say the two-hour show would be made up of "the greatest love songs of all time".
Steve was his happy self, joking that he and others on the show slow-danced in the work kitchen.
He also gave special Valentine's Day shout-outs to lovers across the country.
The news of Steve's death rocked the nation, with tributes and sweet memories flooding in.
One of his co-stars revealed he'd tragically missed out on saying his final farewell.
Former Radio 2 DJ Ken Bruce, 73, who has since switched to Greatest Hits Radio after leaving the BBC last year - took to X to confess: "Totally shocked to hear the news about the great Steve Wright.
"We were planning lunch to celebrate the award of his richly deserved MBE.
"An outstanding and innovative broadcaster whose listeners loved him. What a loss to the world of radio."

Steve was last pictured with pal Anthony James in New York four weeks ago.
The musician posted the photo to X, with the caption: "I can't sleep.
"I'm thinking of my dear friend Steve. We took this picture 4 weeks ago in New York.
"We were trying to do, as he put it 'ironic selfies'. He had such a love of Life and radio.
"He told me 'AJ the blond hair has to go!' I miss him."
My view is that he died from a broken heart.
Gary Farrow
Another pal who was set to meet Steve for lunch also paid tribute to him.
But Celebrity publicist Gary Farrow, who had been mates with Steve for four decades, also gave an insight into the 69-year-old's life - and said he'd been battling a broken heart.
Gary said Steve was “devastated” to lose his hugely popular Radio 2 slot two years ago.
He blasted BBC bosses who deemed him “too old”, saying there was no one more “current”.
The pal told The Sun: “Steve lived for that show, he absolutely loved it - and the listeners loved him. My view is that he died from a broken heart.”
Gary, who was due to meet Steve for lunch this week, said he was the last “of the old guard” and radio is “all the poorer for it”.
He went on: “Everybody loved him on and off air, although he was actually painfully shy, and never wanted to attend these big dos that bosses wanted to wheel him out at.
“But he just wanted someone at the BBC to put an arm around him every now and then, and say ‘You’re doing a great job, Steve. We all love you.’
“But I don’t think anybody ever did - that’s all he wanted."
Steve was said to have been battling another hidden heartbreak, too.
Steve married Cyndi Robinson in 1972 and the pair were together for over two decades — before they divorced in 1999.
At the time, it was reported the divorce was "on the grounds of a two-year separation".
Yet a friend of the radio presenter told The Mirror: "It came out of the blue. Cyndi just said, 'That's it. I'm off."
The father-of-two reportedly ordered takeaway meals and spent much of his spare time working on perfecting his show.
Police and paramedics scrambled to Steve's flat in the Marylebone area of central London on Monday morning.
But cops said that Steve's death was "not being treated as suspicious" after he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was aware that he could have looked after himself better, in his lifestyle choices.

His heartbroken brother Laurence Wright, 65, blamed the BBC star's death on his poor diet, MailOnline reported.
Laurence says Steve's tendency for eating out at restaurants combined with his reluctance to talk about various "health issues", were the main factors behind his shock death.
Laurence, a director of a company in the health industry, said: "He was aware that he could have looked after himself better, in his lifestyle choices. Obviously we all wish he had.
"It's like anyone who doesn't look after themselves over an extended period. "
But pal Gary said that Steve had no real medical problems to speak of.
He said: "From what I know, he didn’t have any real medical problems - he was always taking vitamins and popping pills.
"Sure, he didn't really eat broccoli and he liked McDonald's, but he was such a character, the likes of which I don’t think we will see again."
