One fan thanked the duo for the nostalgic moment, writing: “Some say ‘the best is yet to come’, but I would ‘say the best songs have finally returned’! And we’re loving it!!” Another gushed: “OMG two of my all time favourite artists TOGETHER! Ladies I would IMMEDIATELY go to a concert if both of you together were performing! LOVE THIS!”

While others insisted the pair get together in a studio to record music together. One fan demanded: “We need this collaboration!” And another wrote: “Need a mashup for sure! Love this!”

Sophie has been enjoying a reversal in fortunes since the end of last year as her 2001 single Murder on the Dancefloor was catapulted back into the public consciousness after featuring in the soundtrack to the 2023 film Saltburn. As a result, the song has been rocketing back up music charts around the world.

Sophie has commented on the new appreciation for the track, telling BBC Newsbeat last month: "It actually feels really magical. And if I'm honest, I don't think I've completely processed it really...It's extraordinary. It's a song I've been singing for over 20 years, I still love singing it. I love the way people react when I do it live. But for new people to be discovering it, for it to be making new memories with people is kind of beautiful"

Her resurgence has also seen her feature on major TV shows - with a top billing performance on America’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, exposing her to an all new audience in the USA where she has enjoyed her first Hot 100 track.
