When Sophie Ellis Bextor took to the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, she delivered a string of disco bangers that had the crowd, quite literally, jumping for joy.

Resplendent in a gold-tasselled leotard, the 44-year-old singer was the second Sunday act on the main stage at Worthy Farm, setting the gold standard for the final day with a perfect performance of all her pop favourites.

Fans who weren't lucky enough to see her at Glastonbury could still catch her live as she embarks on a nationwide tour in November and December.

Joined on stage by her husband and guitarist for The Feeling, Richard Jones, the pop icon shone as she bounced her way through a catchy and familiar set list of her biggest hits including Take Me Home, Murder on the Dancefloor and Heartbreak.

While some festival fans were left disgruntled after the BBC chose not to live-stream the early afternoon performance, others felt that her charismatic performance was worthy of being placed higher up the bill on the heralded Pyramid Stage.

The singer cemented her reputation as a national treasure during the Covid-19 lockdowns with her upbeat Kitchen Disco live-stream sessions bringing socially-distanced joy to households up and down the land.

Following on from the success of her lockdown endeavours, Sophie and her band announced at the end of last year that they would be taking their very special Christmas Kitchen Disco on tour, and fans could still be lucky enough to get tickets.
