NFL icon Tom Brady is "humiliated and disgusted" by the performance of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 season, according to controversial sports personality Skip Bayless.

After the Bucs were comprehensively defeated 31-14 to end his 23rd season in the NFL last Monday, Brady doffed his cap to the fans and kissed his parents before disappearing down the tunnel at Raymond James Stadium. His actions suggested his time in Florida is over after three years and a Super Bowl win.

There was a palpable sense of finality in Brady’s post-match press conference, but this is likely due to his expiring Tampa Bay contract rather than an impending announcement regarding his retirement. Brady famously retired last offseason only to reverse his decision 40 days later, and the 45-year-old will surely not make the same mistake again as he ponders retirement or searches for a new home.

On a recent episode of his ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast, co-host Jim Gray asked Brady if he had a timetable for his decision to which the seven-time Super Bowl champion responded surprisingly aggressively. Bayless believes the 45-year-old remains frustrated by the disappointing campaign he endured.

“I picked this team to win the Super Bowl but I didn’t see coming - and I don’t think he did either - what was about to transpire,” Bayless told co-host Shannon Sharpe on their Fox Sports show, ‘Undisputed’. “They finished 24th in pass block win-rate - it won’t work for him. He’s 45 years of age.

“It’s a recipe for disaster. They were dead last in running the football….He finished dead last in play-action pass rate because they were last in running the football; you can’t play-action when you have no threat of running the football.

“Nothing worked anywhere remotely like it did two years before. You sank in every category and you can argue he sank in his category.

“He’s humiliated and disgusted by it, and he hasn’t gotten over it because there’s a scab on the wound, but if you scratch at it, he’s going to f-bomb you. That’s the real psycho Tom that came out.”

Brady’s timeline will be tied to which teams express interest in his services. He will weigh up his options and make a concrete decision likely around the time free agency opens in March, or perhaps sooner if teams are allowed to speak with him.

Speculation has been rife regarding what Brady could do in 2023, with retirement mooted along with the quarterback finding a new team. The NFL icon has been linked with a sensational return to the New England Patriots, the franchise where he won six Super Bowls, as well as move to the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.
