CEDRIC SOARES is edging closer to a move away from Arsenal after being handed a transfer escape route.

The full-back has made just three appearances so far this season and is currently out of contract in the summer.

He was previously linked with a move to Spanish side Villarreal now that he is free to agree terms with overseas clubs.

However, Cedric could even secure a transfer this month, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Besiktas over a potential deal, which could see the full-back sold before the window closes.

Cedric could also sign on loan until the end of the season before completing a free transfer once his Gunners deal expires, the report adds.

Besiktas are currently fourth in the Turkish Super Lig and have several former Premier League players in their ranks, including ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Since joining Arsenal from Southampton in 2020, Cedric has made 61 appearances for the club, scoring twice from defence.

He has yet to appear in the league for Mikel Arteta's side this season, though, after falling down the pecking order in North London.

A loan spell at Fulham during the second half of last season also failed to resurrect his Premier League career.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are also open to offers for Mohamed Elneny and Nuno Tavares during the current window.

The club are expected to knock back any offers for Emile Smith-Rowe, however.

Arteta is set to stick with the midfielder, who has been plagued by injuries of late.
