Do the AGT judges play a role in picking the winner?
The winner of AGT is determined by the audience's votes. However, judges have Golden Buzzers available to them during the auditions.
The Golden Buzzer is a device that, when pressed by a judge, sends an act straight to Live Shows without going through the rest of the auditions.
When an act receives a Golden Buzzer, it is less likely to be eliminated than acts that still have to qualify for Live Shows.
Typically, the judges and host each get one, and in some seasons, they have had a group Golden Buzzer.
For Season 19, there will be nine total Golden Buzzers. The four judges will each have two, while host Terry Crews has one.
