Investigations are ongoing into a double death in which the bodies of a mum and teenage daughter were found at a house.
The pair, aged 42 and 17, were understood to be renovating the property near Milford-on-Sea in New Forest, with police describing the deaths as "unexplained but not suspicious".
The grim discovery was made just before 2pm last Thursday (December 29), Hampshire Constabulary said.
The woman has been named as Suzan Mahmoud, though the teenager, understood to be her daughter, is yet to be identified.
Another young woman was reportedly seen "wrapped in a blanket" at the scene with police consoling her, neighbours said.
Teen girl who died after being suspected of right-wing terrorism was 'victim'A spokesperson for Hampshire Coroners Court told the Mirror today: "The coroner has been notified of the deaths but the case is currently under investigation and no further information can be released at this time.
"If an inquest is to be opened we will let you know the date in due course."
According to reports, the family - believed to consist of a mum, two daughters and a son - had opted to move to New Forest for a fresh start after the children's dad died.
Records show the property was purchased in January 2022 for £620,000 and is registered under Laura Allen.
Neighbours said the family did not stay at the five-bedroom house permanently, but regularly visited to carry out renovations.
One nearby resident told The Sun: "We did not really see her that often, but when they bought the house she told us her husband had recently died and the family wanted to move to the country to start afresh.
"The house needed completely renovating and they were doing it with the help of local builders as well as work themselves.
"They were not here that often but it is just awful to think what has happened."
Another person said they had spoken to neighbours on Christmas Eve.
Hairdresser Debbie Smith told the Guardian: “The family bought the house last January, but didn’t really move in.
Hero uncle played with nephews and niece on beach before he drowned saving them“They were doing renovations and they had done a lot of work on the house. We know they spoke to another neighbour on Christmas Eve.
"It’s incredibly sad, just horrific,” she added.
A force spokesperson said on Tuesday: “We were called just after 1.45pm on Thursday, 29 December to a report of the bodies of a 17-year-old girl and 42-year-old woman having been found at an address in Shorefield Road.
“The deaths are being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.
"Their family has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue said: "One officer was requested to attend a property on Shorefield Road on the 29th December to assist ambulance colleagues.
"The nearest officer was mobilised, coming from Dorset and Wiltshire FRS.
"The incident was left with ambulance and police colleagues with no action taken by the fire service."
The house is near the entrance of Shorefield Country Park, a holiday resort with lodges and a spa.
