Mae Muller became a household name when she was unveiled as the UK's entry into last year's Eurovision Song Contest.

But now the 26 year old singer has pressed pause on her music career and has decided to become an actor. Mae is now part of the line-up in a British film titled Gassed Up, playing a character called Kelly.

Mae performed her own track called I Wrote A Song, which was a revenge tune when she performed in Liverpool at last year's Eurovision final. The London-born singer was hoping to follow in the footsteps of Sam Ryder, who placed the UK in it's highest position in decades after reaching a runner-up spot.

Fast-forward a year and Mae has turned her back on music to star in the London based film which is centered on a moped street-gang. The head of the gang uses his ill-gotten gains to support his struggling family but feels conflicted over the moral complexities.

But things soon take a dark turn when a jewellery heist attracts the attention of an Albanian crime family. Mae re-posted the trailer by the production company and fans were left excited with her new career choice. One fan said: " Let's gooooo! Love it Mae." Another wrote: "Girrl let's go!" And a third added: "I wanna meet Kelly."

Mae is no stranger to the entertainment industry as she starred in singer Mika's music video Grace Kelly. In 2007, Mae was only nine years old and some may remember her sat on top of the piano in a lime green dress, as Mika belted out his breakthrough single. Speaking of how she landed the role in the music video on Never Mind The Buzzcocks last year, she said: "I actually got it based on how [messed] up my teeth were, apparently. I guess they saw all the auditions and he went, 'She's got some real intense teeth. That's good, we like that'."

And it seems a number of female artists, including Gwen Stefani and Lily Allen, became an inspiration for Mae while growing up. She told Wonderland magazine: "I wouldn't say she influenced my music and songwriting, but after discovering Gwen I knew that I wanted to do what she did."

And speaking of Lily Allen's influence over her direction in music, she added: "We'd be driving around these beautiful mountains and Lily Allen would come on saying the rudest things. I was still at primary school so I didn't really know what it meant, but I knew I was obsessed with it."

Eurovision is not Mae's first encounter with a live performance as she has a string of live gigs under her belt. She has also opened up for girl group Little Mix on their 2019 LM5 tour and has also supported Liam Payne. She performed with Aitch in the Live Lounge, played Reading Festival and sold out the Kentish Town Forum for homecoming show.
