The song contest has been traditionally held in May since 1995.

Before this, the show would be held anywhere between March and May.

The very first Eurovision Song Contest final was held on May 24, 1956.

Where will Eurovision 2024 be held?

For 2024, Sweden will do the hosting honours after singer Loreen notched up her second Eurovision win with Tattoo in 2023.

The Swedes have chosen Malmo as the city to welcome acts and fans from across the globe, with the local arena being used as the venue.

In 2023, the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Liverpool.

This was because Ukraine wasn't able to host the famous song contest, after Kalush Orchestra won in 2022.

Who is representing the UK in Eurovision 2024?

Olly Alexander will perform his song Dizzy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Speaking about his involvement in the competition, which is watched by 160million people annually, he said: “I’ve loved watching Eurovision ever since I was a little kid and I’m beyond excited to be taking part next year.

"As a young boy I always looked forward to this incredible event of unbridled joy, the wonderfully chaotic mix of musical styles, theatrical performances, heartfelt emotion and humour.

"I really can’t believe I’m going to be a part of such a special legacy and fly the flag for the UK in the gayest way possible, it shall be an honour!"

Who will present Eurovision 2024?

Eurovision will be hosted by actor Malin Åkerman and presenter and comedian Petra Mede, who was also at the helm in 2013 and 2016.

Popular presenter Graham Norton once again reprises his role of Eurovision commentator.

In 2023, as the Song Contest was in the UK, Mr Norton actually hosted the big event.

He was joined on stage by Hannah Waddingham, who proved hugely popular with fans.

Graham took over as commentator in 2007 after Eurovision legend Sir Terry Wogan sadly passed away.
