Prince Harry cracked a joke at his dad King Charles' expense at the Living Legends of Aviation awards on Friday night.

The jokester said he was "terrified" when his father took the controls of a helicopter during his first flight. The light-hearted speech came as The Mirror has since confirmed that Harry and Meghan have given their support to the King and Princess of Wales in private following their health scares.

Charles is preparing for a prostate operation and Kate is in hospital after major abdominal surgery. The olive branch from Harry comes after months of claims of a severely strained relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family. This week, it was revealed the King has quietly made provision to stop Harry from acting as a substitute for him if he falls ill or is abroad.

Appearing at the showbiz event on Friday night, Harry was asked by host John Travolta about his first flight experience. He recalled being seven or eight years old when he got into a Wessex Helicopter. "But then my father jumped in behind me and I was terrified," he quipped according to the Daily Mail.

On Friday night the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, was recognised at the 21st annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards with the award of Living Legend. He was seen stepping out of a car upon arriving at the event, with him then snapped inside with a German Prince before seen on stage accepting his award.

While on stage, Prince Harry is reported to have spoken for four minutes. And according to reports, he didn't mention his father and sister-in-law's health woes in his public speech.

Getting up on stage at the ceremony to be inducted as a Living Legend, Grease actor John Travolta was the person who inducted the Duke. And while on stage, Harry recalled a sweet moment that his late mother, Princess Diana, and John once shared.

While on stage, Harry spoke to John, who famously danced with his mum at The White House in 1985. "I was just a one-year-old when you danced with my mum at the White House and now look at us," Harry is reported to have gushed to the actor.

"The only thing left to do is... not dance together but fly together," he is reported to have said.
