Elle King took the stage to perform at Dolly Parton's 78th birthday, but fans were left upset.

She reportedly was slurring her words and arguing with fans in the audience, telling one that they wouldn't get their money back. Elle didn't try to hide her inebriation as she told the audience: "Hi, I'm Elle King, and I'm f***ing hammered."

Elle swore nonstop in her performance with one TikTok claiming she dropped the f-bomb at least 15 times. While covering Dolly's Marry Me, she apparently forgot the lyrics. "I don't give a s***" she proclaimed on stage. Elle even interrupted someone's speech who was honouring country legend Dolly. A fan wrote about the performance: "At the end they shut the curtain on her, ended the variety show and said goodnight."

Fans were disgusted by the incident and made sure that The Grand Ole Opry, where the event was taking place, knew about their anger. One wrote: "Dolly Parton would’ve been mortified. For our first time at The Opry, it was a shame we all had to witness that."

Another felt cheated due to the high prices they paid just to watch Elle's messy performance. They wrote: "I was there Friday for the second show with my two young daughters. Paid $380 for tickets, $40 for parking and stood in below freezing temperatures waiting to get in, only to leave early due to the vileness spewing out of Elle. So heartbreaking for my 11 year old who adores Dolly."

As for the Opry's response... they certainly weren't happy about it. They answered only one Twitter fan who said: "I wish she would’ve been there because Elle King ruined the night with her horrible, drunk, and profane performance. Dolly Parton would’ve been mortified. For our first time at The Opry, it was a shame we all had to witness that."

The venue replied: "Hi Judas, we deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance."

It's too late, though, because for some fans, the Opry's reputation was already tarnished. "Is that the norm here?" the fan replied. "Cause if so, no thanks."

This isn't the first time that Elle's stirred up some controversy for mixing alcohol with performing. One fan expressed concern, writing: "Someone get Elle King some help. First the NYE disaster and now she has disrespected Dolly in the Mother Church."

However, at least one person ran to her defense. They wrote: "Not trying to be rude by no means, but Elle King was just enjoying bringing in the NEW YEAR , yes her language wasn't the best, but she was just enjoying bringing the year 2024."
