The funnyman is a regular at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, but he rose to fame after appearing on Taskmaster and winning it in 2019.

Ed was one of five contestants set silly tasks by Taskmaster Greg Davies, watched over by Alex Horne.

He won a gold statue of the Taskmaster's head as he saw off competition from Jo Brand, David Baddiel, Katy Wix and Rose Matafeo.

The talented star is well known for being a foodie, and has a food and comedy podcast with fellow comedian and former Taskmaster contestant James Acaster.

Ed was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 13, and often talks about the condition in his comedy.

The comedian regularly tours both in the UK and overseas, taking his hugely successful Electric show Down Under in 2023.

Is Ed Gamble married?

Ed is married to his girlfriend of 11-years Charlie, who is a TV producer.

The couple had to postpone their wedding three times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but went on to tie the knot in September 2021.

He's also appeared on Dave's Hypothetical and 8 Out Of 10 Cats on Channel 4, and has also written for Greg Davies' comedy series Man Down.

He appeared on series two of Russell Howard's Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) as a headline stand-up, Drunk History (Comedy Central), Dave's One Night Stand (UKTV), Virtually Famous (E4) and Sweat The Small Stuff (BBC Three).

Ed has also been a judge on the BBC's Great British Menu since 2021.

When it was announced he had the job, he told the BBC at the time: “It’s a great honour to be asked to judge on this shining jewel in the BBC’s crown.

"I’ve been in strict training for the show by eating full meals every hour. Good news: I love food. Bad news: I eat with my mouth open.”

Then speaking in 2023 about taking part in the series, he told Chris Evans' Virgin Radio show: “It’s really exciting.

"When the dishes first come, you get a proper little buzz, so keep an eye out for all of those.”

Ed went onto talk about the amount of food he has to eat: "We do eight regional finals as judges, so they narrow it down to two [chefs] per region.

"So, we get in there every Friday and we eat two full menus!"

He then added: “Saturday morning after the first Friday, you’re like, ‘I can’t believe I ate that much, that was absolutely disgusting.’

"And then by next Wednesday, you go, ‘I can’t wait for Friday! I’m going to get stuck in’. And I do eat all of it! They tell you not to, but I eat every single morsel.”
