Brock Purdy has a surprising link to NCAA women's basketball superstar Caitlin Clark with the 22-year-old WNBA-bound star's brother a former college football teammate of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

Purdy, 24, spent four years at Iowa State, where he recorded the most wins of any quarterback in the college's football program history with a 30-17 record while also leading the team to four straight bowl games. The 2022 NFL Draft's "Mr.Irrelevant" is also Iowa's leader in passing yards with 12,170, touchdown passes with 81, completions with 993, and completion percentage at an impressive 67.7 percent.

Interestingly, his backup quarterback was basketball sensation Clark's older brother Blake Clark, who attended Iowa State from 2018 to 2022. Purdy and Blake weren't just teammates sharing a locker room, though, they also grew pretty close together.

So much so, that Blake will be at Purdy's wedding to fiancee Jenna Brandt. The couple met at Iowa State during their college days and although a date for the wedding is unknown at this point, Blake is already on the guest list.

Brock Purdy, the 49ers' quarterback, couldn't hide his joy when talking about the Clark family before his team's big game at Super Bowl LVIII. He was all smiles as he chatted with reporter and internet star Austin Franklin.

Purdy shared, "So Blake Clark is a great friend of mine, he's going to be at my wedding," and added, "He's the man, yeah I love him, he was one of my best friends for four years at Iowa State."

Before Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA women's basketball scoring record, Purdy talked about his friendship with her brother. Caitlin Clark scored an amazing 49 points against Michigan Wolverines last Thursday. She now has 3,569 points in total, making her the top pick everyone thinks will go first in the 2024 WNBA draft to Indiana.

Clark is also close to beating the famous Pete Maravich's record of 3,667 points. She needs just 99 more points in her last four games to become the highest scorer in all of US college basketball for both men and women. "Caitlin, I wasn't around as much but obviously just through Blake," Purdy said, talking about his connection to the basketball star.

"We'd always watch her and what a baller she was from day one. Obviously, from high school, we knew she was gonna be a game-changer. So, to see her now absolutely killing it, I couldn't be happier for her."

Purdy also confessed that he looks up to Clark. "I think just the grit," he said, explaining how he's inspired by her. "The competitive nature that he has. When you watch it, it makes you want to play, it makes you want to play your sport well. So, when you see her out there getting her teammates fired up and stuff like that, it reminds you of when you're out on the field playing and your willingness to win."
