DEAR DEIDRE: My husband has been constantly swearing since he started working in an all-male environment.
I’m 43 and he’s 46, and he got a new job as a manager on building sites. No women work there, apart from when the show homes are open.
And although he has a potty mouth most of the time, he calls the labourers out if they swear in front of any women who are there for on-site inspections.
He’s different where I’m concerned, though. Before, I only used to hear him swear if he hurt himself, but now it’s effing this or effing that every other word.
When he’s driving, he is even worse. Everyone is a b**end or a btch.
From tongue scraping to saying no, here are 12 health trends to try in 2023I feel as if he thinks I’m worthless, as he doesn’t think twice about swearing in front of me.
He is not the man I married, that’s for sure.
DEIDRE SAYS: He may be in an environment where the workforce swears as part of their everyday language, but it can be offensive.
Does he know how you feel about it? Find a moment to explain that you feel he has changed and you would prefer that he kept his swearing to the time when he is at work only.
Ask him how you are different from the female site inspectors. My support pack, Standing Up For Yourself, will help you to talk to him.
If he continues to swear, don’t answer him until he gets the message.
