SAM JOHNSTONE could be tempted by a last-minute, £15million switch from Crystal Palace to Nottingham Forest to boost his Euro 2024 hopes.

Sky Sports claim Forest have re-opened talks with their Premier League rivals over the England keeper ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Johnstone, 30, is struggling to oust ex-Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson as the Eagles' No1.

And although it's understood he remains happy at Selhurst Park, he wants more regular football to maintain his place in the Three Lions' squad.

Henderson displaced Johnstone after the former West Brom stopper got injured last month.

Both keepers are fit now - but the 26-year-old has kept the shirt for the last six Premier League games.

Palace are keen to keep Johnstone, whose contract runs until 2027.

But Sky Sports suggest an offer of £12m-£15m could prove enticing.

However, Forest's spending ability is limited due to the their financial issues.

And an acceptable bid for Johnstone might be beyond them, unless they sell £20m-rated midfielder Orel Mangala, a reported target for Napoli.

Wolves were also said to be monitoring Johnstone in December.

That's partly because they feared losing Portugal keeper Jose Sa.

But the ex-Porto and Olympiacos man, 31, stayed at Molineux.
