Paloma Faith has revealed an emotional insight into her famous BRIT Awards performance.

The songstress who recently returned with her latest album, The Glorification of Sadness, sent fans into a frenzy when she took to the stage at the 2015 event to perform Only Love Can Hurt Like This. During her performance, the 42-year-old certainly created a moving atmosphere.

Appearing from a cloud of smoke, Paloma showcased her powerful vocals as 'rain' poured from above her, while ballet dancers moved to the song. As the track continued, the singer soon became soaked by the rain as a storm took over the stage while she sent ripples across the O2 Arena.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror about her performance, Paloma said: "It was such a big deal that night. It was the first time my record company said 'You can have whatever budget you like and you can creatively direct your whole performance and effectively do what you want.'

"I knew what I wanted to do quite quickly and I contacted my old dance teacher, who happened to be an incredible choreographer, Wayne McGregor of Random Dance Company. I met him when I was 13 and he was really empowering for me as a kid, I called him and was like 'Can we do a collaboration for my BRITs performance? I'd like to sort of illustrate I've come full circle and you've always supported me,' and it was quite moving in that sense."

The hitmaker continued: "I know everyone saw this thing that was kind of unseen at that point at the BRITs, it was like my brain on the stage but it was quite moving for me because it was also me saying 'Thank you' to someone who helped me when I was young and didn't have as much confidence."

This year, Paloma has teamed up with Comic Relief and Amazon for the official single of Red Nose Day and revealed she was left completely speechless when she was approached by the charity. She explained her life has been filled with memories surrounding Red Nose Day and the "icons" who are part of the organisation and admits it's "surreal" to be part of the group.

"I hope it helps the poverty crisis, every little bit helps," she said of the single, adding: "I find my charity work and allyship with different causes a really important part of what I do. I hope it goes towards helping the poverty crisis." Later this year, Paloma will head out on tour, with performances at the likes of Thetford Forest as part of Forest Live and Margate Summer Series.

"It's my favourite thing to do," she said of touring, before saying: "It's the reason why I do this job, being on stage, connecting with people who are there to see me and sing my songs with me. It's just the most privileged situation to be in and the only time I'm not anxious, weirdly. I find life quite overwhelming, daily life, on stage, I never feel overwhelmed, I feel like I'm in my right place, I'm really looking forward to it."

This year's Red Nose range is available on Amazon now, with free One-Day Delivery for all customers. Paloma Faith's Enjoy Yourself (The Red Nose Day Edition) is out now via Amazon Music and other streaming platforms, in aid of Comic Relief.
