The American star also popped up in the 2004 action thriller Cellular where he played Crewcut Officer. And he also starred in the 2002 romantic comedy movie Boat Trip.

Other credits of Eddie's include the hit US soap opera Days Of Our Lives, This Is Us, CSI: Miami, Future Man, How to Get Away with Murder, Outlaw, and Desperate Housewives.

He kicked off his career in acting though when he attended the University of Miami. He then took part in an apprenticeship programme at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre in North Palm Beach, Florida.

Tributes and messages of condolence have started to appear on social media. One person penned: "Goodbye to Eddie Driscoll, his entire (television) life in uniform, almost always as a secret service agent or similar: 24; THE LAST SHIP; HEROES; CSI MIAMI... Or in cinema: CELLULAR; ONE AND A HALF THIEF; BOAT TRIP: THIS BOAT IS A DANGER... Rest in peace."

The actor is survived by his brother, Danny, as per reports.
