Parents will know all too well that Peppa Pig is a television staple and kids absolutely love her.

The 2004 cartoon is still popular to this day, and Peppa is well-known for being intelligent, and somewhat sassy - but American parents are not happy with the way they believe the porcine is making their children behave. Some have reported that their American children have picked up British accents, mannerisms, and have even started to use the 'British' variation of words - for example, biscuits instead of cookies.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one woman penned: "So happy we are discussing what a terrible role model Peppa Pig is. She's rude and a total brat and she never gets called out for it on the show. She's a selfish, body-shaming bully. And she gets away with it."

Mother Armita Asgari, 41, told The Wall Street Journal that she believed "Peppa is a brat" when she noticed a change in the way her five-year-old son acts, compared to before he watched the popular show. She recalled that her son referred to the neighbour as having a "big tummy", and she was less than impressed. "That was when I realised he had picked up all these behaviours from Peppa Pig", she fumed.

She was also less than impressed to hear her son using the word "yuck" to express disgust when he was trying new foods he wasn't too fond of. He'd also yell "You're not my friend anymore" if his mum did something he was less than impressed with, leaving his mother baffled.

Speaking this morning on Talk TV about the outrage Americans felt for Peppa Pig, she was described as "rude, a liar, a tattle tale, and more." People were annoyed though, saying that if they didn't like it, just "press the off button". Someone fumed: "British media negatively affects American children? Did I read that correctly?"

Another mother told the Daily Mail that she has banned Peppa Pig from being watched in her home as she felt the characters were "rude and stupid" and that they have "poor values." She was concerned about how impressionable children are, and they always "copy what they see and hear", and she didn't want her kids to get any ideas.

One parent took to X to pen: "Don't let her watch Peppa Pig. Peppa talks back to parents", and a mother fumed: "I f**king hate Peppa Pig, she's so rude to Daddy Pig and George Pig." "I can't lie, I hate Peppa Pig and everything she stands for", another X user raged.

Esra Cafer, Hasbro's senior vice president, said: "Peppa Pig has been a beloved, dynamic character for 20 years (this year), known for being a confident young girl who is empowered to speak her mind and express how she feels. Peppa's stories offer a kid's eye view of the world and authentically reflect the experiences and emotions of our young audiences. She shows them how to approach and navigate real-life situations in a brave and empathetic way. Instilling these values is important to us as creators, and ultimately important to parents who appreciate the example she provides to their children."

Many parents have expressed that they and their kids "love" Peppa Pig, however, saying that the fast episodes make it easy to digest, with one mum joking: "One episode is the perfect amount of time to wash your hair in."
