BARCELONA forward Ferran Torres is reportedly NOT for sale in a major blow to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old joined the Catalan giants 12 months ago from Manchester City for £55million.

But he has struggled to live up to that price tag so far, bagging just 12 goals in 46 appearances.

Barcelona are keen to alleviate the strain on their wage budget, with Memphis Depay expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer.

But Spaniard Torres had also been linked with exiting the Nou Camp after just one year.

Tottenham and Arsenal were both muted as potential destinations for the ex-Man City man, with the Gunners eyeing a high-profile understudy to the injured Gabriel Jesus.

Eddie Nketiah is currently Mikel Arteta's only obvious choice to lead the line, so reinforcements are likely necessary if they are to maintain a Premier League title push.

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now quashed rumours of Torres' departure.

Speaking to Caught Offside in his exclusive Substack column he said: "Barcelona want to keep Ferran Torres, there are currently no negotiations for him.

"Their aim is to keep the same squad until the end of the season and then change some players again in July."

Torres has been predominantly utilised on the left flank for Xavi's men - who sit above Real Madrid on goal difference at the top of the LaLiga table.

However, he is facing a battle to secure a regular starting place in the side.

Wide forwards Raphinha, Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele are other top class options for the Barcelona boss.

And Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 18 goals in 20 games since joining the Spanish club in the summer, is a shoo-in to lead the line.
