Jurgen Klopp has hailed Alexis Mac Allister's "absolutely incredible" performance as Liverpool beat Brighton 2-1 on Sunday to go top of the Premier League.
The Reds had to come from behind after Danny Welbeck fired Brighton in front after just two minutes. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah earned Liverpool an important three points, but Klopp reserved special praise for Mac Allister who assisted the winner.
Mac Allister was named player of the match for his display against his former club, with Klopp saying after the game: "I saw a lot of special performances today. Yes, Macca was incredible – absolutely incredible – but when you have that kind of talent when you have that kind of character, then you should show it.
"It's Macca, he can do that – so do it. That's Conor [Bradley], that's [Jarell] Quansah, that's Wataru, that's Dom… they are that good. That's Joe Gomez. The boys are good, so show it.
"Yes, I am the biggest fan of these boys but I stopped being surprised if they really perform on the highest level because it is just what I want them to do and then when they do it it's fine.
Jurgen Klopp's approach with Robert Lewandowski bodes well for Darwin Nunez"If they cannot do it then I think about why and how we could help, but when they do it I am not as surprised as others maybe, I am just happy the more often they can do it. Great game, so many moments and then Caoimh [Kelleher] puts the ball out of the corner.
"I saw that pretty well and I didn’t expect the hand coming. There he was and it was really cool. As I said, difficult game, good performance, fantastic result."
Mac Allister, meanwhile, hailed Liverpool's mentality to come from behind and get the win. "We didn’t start as we wanted but it was an amazing game, we played against an unbelievable team," he told Sky Sports.
"I know them very well, I know what they can do. It was a tough match but at the end we won it, so we are very happy. I would rather not concede so early!
"But the mentality of the boys is amazing, that's what you need when you are 1-0 down. Today we showed it again. But, as I said, next time we have to try to start winning and not losing."
