Queen Camilla 'did her family proud' as she hosted a star-studded event for her literacy charity - as she 'put the Harry fall-out' behind her. '

The Queen’s Reading Room, the literary charity set up by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, held an event to announce the key findings from its first-ever study into the link between reading and wellbeing. Celebs including Dame Joanna Lumley, Helena Bonham Carter, authors Harlan Coben, Sir Ian Rankin, Donna Tart, Ken Follett, Michael Dobbs and other literary figures gathered at Clarence House to hear Her Majesty Queen Camilla reveal the findings of a study commissioned by The Queen's Reading Room.

It came as Prince Harry prepares to fly back to England and patch things up with his family after the spectacular fall-out over his book Spare.

In it, he made no secret of his feelings for his step-mum. The Duke of Sussex didn't hold back as he opened up about life behind Palace walls in his debut memoir Spare. When he returns to England from his California home in May, it will be with the intention to make amends with his brother Prince William and their father King Charles, after a tumultuous few years.

Still, Camila is doing her best to keep the family on good terms. A source told The Mirror: "Camilla has done her best to lift morale for the family, and play her part. She beamed at her charity event for The Queen's Reading Room. It was such a success, and she was just so honored to have everyone turn out to support - and thanked her team wholeheartedly for putting on such an important function to raise awareness of the link between reading and well-being."

Meanwhile, Camila has been praised for being a rock for both King Charles and Prince William as the family rallies together since the heart-breaking health woes of both King Charles and Princess Catherine, after both senior royals were diagnosed with cancer.

Prince William is said to have 'grown much closer to Queen Camilla' and the pair have now formed a tight bond - despite the future king's feelings towards her initially being "complicated", a royal expert has revealed.

Queen Camilla was over the moon to be joined by esteemed guests at her charity event, who are fast becoming her circle of friends. Queen Camilla posed with Dame Joanna Lumley, as well as Keeping Up With Appearances star Dame Patricia Routledge, at a celebration of women in the arts last month.

The Queen, who is an avid fan of the arts and entertainment, has made no secret of her love of Shakespeare as she and King Charles held a reception to honour his contribution to life and culture to the UK last year. But while her husband may be recovering after undergoing treatment for his cancer, Her Majesty was out and about in the capital.

It was in the same spirit Camilla hosted the event for The Queen’s Reading Room last week. The literary charity set up by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, commissioned a qualitative, quantitative and neuroscientific study into the link between reading fiction and wellbeing. This study is the first ever research piece to be commissioned by the charity and delved into the link between reading fiction and well-being, and it has proven that reading for just five minutes can reduce stress by almost 20%.

Key findings revealed that just 5 minutes of reading can reduce stress by nearly 20%, improve concentration and focus by as much as 11% and that reading earlier in the day can help readers feel ready to tackle challenges.

Participants in the neuroscientific element of the study were asked to complete a number of tasks whilst wearing a portable brain scan & skin watch which measured biometric readings, brave waves & skin conductance level.

The results have proven a clear link between reading fiction and increased mental health, brain health and social connectedness. The research, which was carried out between December 2023 and March 2024 by Trinity McQueen and Split Second Research, marks the first time The Queen’s Reading Room has commissioned qualitative, quantitative and neuroscientific research.
