Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce has recalled the moment a couple ‘stormed off’ and ‘dumped’ their item following a nightmare valuation.

The 59-year-old, who has been at the helm of the series since 2008, spoke out about the awkward moment during her appearance on ITV’s gameshow Celebrity Catchphrase - fronted by Stephen Mulhern.

Since its debut in 1979, Antiques Roadshow has aired countless dramatic moments, becoming a staple on screens every Sunday night.

Throughout the years, viewers have witnessed numerous guests bring in their items in hopes of discovering more about their valuables, or, even better, receiving a surprising valuation.

They have also watched plenty of jaw-dropping moments, too - from experts nearly dropping delicate vases to accidentally "drinking" urine.

According to host Fiona, one of the episodes turned into a disaster after some guests “stormed off” because they were unimpressed with the valuation of their item.

The telly favourite recently appeared on Celebrity Catchphrase for a special episode.

Fiona appeared alongside famous faces such as Josie Gibson and Scott Mills during the instalment.

To no surprise, host Stephen was quick to question Fiona about presenting Antiques Roadshow as he quizzed: “We know you as a presenter and as very serious newsreader. We know you from Antiques Roadshow as well, of course.

“Have you ever seen anybody really cheesed off when they bring their item in and they get told it's worth absolutely nothing?”

“Because I love that bit!” he added.

Fiona giggled and replied: “Everyone tells me they love that bit. And yes, I mean, many times!”

Reliving the moment, she explained: “Some people came along once, a couple, and they had an enormous painting. They lugged it along, and it took them ages.

“Eventually, the specialist saw it and said £30 maybe, and they were so cross!

“They dumped it against a hedge and stormed off!”

Fiona’s revelation comes after the BBC confirmed in February that filming for Antiques Roadshow will be kicking off in a few months.

The hit BBC programme has been renewed for a 47th season as viewers learn more about valuable treasures people have uncovered.

The team of experts will kickstart their travels from Firstsite Art Gallery in Colchester, Essex, all the way to Thirlestane Castle, tucked away in Lauder in the Scottish Borders.

Further stops include Beaumaris Castle on the island of Anglesey, the Botanic Gardens within Belfast, and Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery in Ealing, London.

The final location that the team will be visiting is Cromford Mills, near Matlock in Derbyshire.
