The man, of no fixed abode, had been arrested and bailed on suspicion of murdering Eliza Bibby, 47, in Cambridgeshire.

He was remanded in custody in connection with unrelated allegations.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Ms Bibby's body was discovered at her home in Wisbech on January 10.

Authorities believe she died some time between 10pm the day before and 6am on the day she was found.

A post-mortem concluded she died of multiple stab wounds.

Next door neighbour Maurice Burton said he heard a thud at about midnight.

He said: "It sounded like someone fell over.

"I heard a voice saying, 'you've let the *** dog out.' I never heard any more after that."

Locals said she was known to live with two rescue dogs and used a mobility scooter and walking stick.

A 42-year-old woman from Wisbech has also been arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder but remains in custody with unrelated allegations.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information about what they believe was a "targeted attack".
