LeBron James has spoken out about rumours that his son Bronny might leave USC after just one season.

There was talk on social media that the NBA star's oldest son could be moving to a new college programme, but the initial post by a reporter was later retracted. After his team, the Los Angeles Lakers, won 128-111 against the Toronto Raptors, LeBron told ESPN that he and the family will back Bronny in whatever he chooses.

"I don't know where [the reports] came from but at the end of the day, Bronny is his own man and he has some tough decision to make," said LeBron. "As his family, we gonna support whatever he does."

Bronny, who is 19, couldn't play in the first eight games at USC after he suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2023. But he's played in 25 games since, starting in six of them.

He's recording an average of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. USC's season ended when they lost 70-49 to Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament in March.

One thing Bronny needs to think about is whether he wants to consider the 2024 NBA Draft. The young player can choose to join the draft, where he faces uncertainty over his stock, or he can play another year of college basketball, with USC preparing to join the Big Ten conference.

LeBron spoke to ESPN last month, during the NBA All-Star Game Weekend, concerning his son's future, saying: "It's up to him. "It's up to the kid. Obviously, we gonna go through the whole process. We gonna weigh our options, and we gonna let the kid make the decision."

With a popular podcast hosted in tandem with ex-NBA star and commentator JJ Reddick, LeBron spends time analysing basketball gameplays. He voiced his anxiety when watching college basketball games, notably those featuring his son.

"The NBA is the best league in the world," James said. "That's why it's hard to watch my son play college basketball. It is hard watching a 40-minute college basketball game. It's hard. I get more anxiety and I sweat more watching college basketball, especially my son now, than I've ever done in my life."
