Mikel Arteta rotated his Arsenal team and still returned to the top of the Premier League with victory over Luton..

The Gunners boss made five changes to the side which drew at Manchester City - the most he has made this season. Bukayo Saka was rested and Declan Rice started on the bench.

But captain Martin Odegaard and an own goal from Daiki Hashioka gave Arsenal a comfortable win.

And they leapfrog back over Liverpool before the Anfield club host Sheffield United on Thursday - and stay a point ahead of City - by extending their unbeaten streak in the Premier League this year to 10 matches.

Arsenal travel to Brighton on Saturday before hosting Harry Kane ’s Bayern Munich on Tuesday. And Leandro Trossard said: “Everyone showed they can play and make it hard for the manager. I think he is happy with the performance of all the players so it couldn’t be better.

Luton have now gone 11 Premier League games without a win and remain in 18th place - three points behind Nottingham Forest. Rob Edwards’ side host Bournemouth in a big game at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
