LIVERPOOL host Manchester City this Sunday in the biggest match of the Premier League season to date.

A win for the home side sees them open up clear daylight between themselves and the defending champions. An away win would see City overtake the Reds and move into pole position to win the title for a fourth consecutive season.

Before the main event, Arsenal hosts Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday evening. A win for the Gunners will see them go top. And if the result from Anfield is a draw, it would mean Arsenal finish the weekend as the Premier League leaders.

If that’s not enough to keep you entertained this Mother’s Day weekend, Aston Villa takes on Spurs at Villa Park in the early Sunday kick-off. And as the race for fourth place enters the home straight, it’s a match that Spurs dare not lose.

Below, we have put together a Saturday treble of the best Premier League bets. If our treble is successful, a tenner would see a return of £110.92. Chuck in our two Sunday selections, and the five-fold will pay a cool £476.44.

???? Man Utd vs Everton: Man Utd to win and Over 2.5 Goals (7/4)

Man Utd are hard to trust. Just when they look like they've finally turned the corner, they throw in a result like the 2-1 home defeat to Fulham.

We can forgive them for the loss to City in the Manchester Derby last Sunday. But they dare not lose at home to an Everton team who haven’t won in the Premier League since 16th December.

The Toffees are performing better than their results suggest. The problem is, they just can't score.

Against United’s leaky defence, Everton will have a chance to find the net. And even if they don't, we expect United to score more than once. After all, they owe their under-fire boss a good performance.

We don’t normally like making predictions on the early match, as they can wreck the whole weekend if they lose. But this looks like a 3-1 or 3-0 home win. If United don't win on Saturday, it's surely when, not if Erik ten Hag gets the sack.

???? Bournemouth vs Sheffield United: Over 1.5 First Half Goals (6/5)

United ships goals for fun. And in recent weeks, a lot of them have come in the opening 45 minutes.

Five in the first half against Arsenal last Monday, two against Brighton, and four against Aston Villa. Even in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves, they conceded in the first half, and in their 3-1 win away to Luton, the Blades found the net twice inside the first 45 minutes.

Just to be clear, this bet is for two goals in the first half from either side. Sheffield United usually oblige by waving the attackers through for the opposition to score. But in the event United does trouble the statisticians with a first-half goal, it will count towards our bet.

???? Luton Town vs Aston Villa: Ollie Watkins to Score Anytime (21/20)

Arsenal vs Brentford: Arsenal Over 2.5 Goals (5/6)

Another leaky defence up against a red-hot attack. The Gunners have just been phenomenal in recent weeks. In their last seven Premier League matches, they have racked up a total of 31 goals.

As a result, Mikel Arteta’s team now has the best goal difference out of the three title contenders. And in a close-run title race, that could be the equivalent of an extra point at the end of the season.

Brentford have been poor in recent weeks. They conceded four against Liverpool, four against West Ham, and two against Chelsea. Remarkably, their best recent defensive display came at the Etihad, where they only lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

This match has the look of a routine 3-0 home win about it.

Add the following two bets to make it a 5-fold acca.

???? Aston Villa vs Spurs: Over 3.5 Goals (10/11)

Villa’s last four Premier League matches have seen 17 goals scored at both ends. Across the same period, there have been 14 goals in the four matches involving Tottenham Hotspur.

Unai Emery’s team have struggled to keep clean sheets in recent weeks. It almost looks like Villa have decided the best way to get around this problem is to outscore the opposition. And in recent weeks it has been working.

Spurs will be aware that they will get opportunities at Villa Park, and in Timo Werner, they have a speed merchant who will exploit the hosts on the counterattack. Against Crystal Palace, the on-loan German got his first goal for Spurs, and we feel he will be crucial for Spurs against Villa on Sunday.

He’s too unpredictable in front of goal to back to score in the match. But we believe his powerful runs will open up the game for others to capitalise on. We expect goals at both ends and think this is a game that could go either way.

???? Liverpool vs Man City: Phil Foden to Score or Assist (5/4)

Phil Foden is the man of the moment for Manchester City.

Against Manchester United last Sunday it was looking like one of those days. Haaland had missed a first-half sitter and City were getting desperate, feeling like another three points were slipping away.

Enter Phil Foden. His second-half brace turned the match on its head and won City the three points.

In his last six matches, Foden has scored six times. He is becoming Man City’s go-to man.

The only surprise is there are no assists in his recent run of good form. Sunday could be the day he puts that right. In a game that will need a contribution from a big game player, expect Foden to produce something in his current form.
