Michaela Strachan has insisted that she doesn't care about growing older even if she looks "rough and wrinkly."

The 57 year old presenter, who shot to fame while on the Wide Awake Club in the eighties, is adamant to grow old gracefully and embrace the ageing process, as she refuses to jump on the bandwagon of Botox and various other tweakments.

In a recent interview, she said: "People tell me all the time that I look exactly the same as I did in the eighties when I presented Wide Awake Club with Timmy Mallet. But I often catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and think crikey, I look rough. Do I care? Not really."

Speaking to Fabulous magazine, she continued: "We all get so upset about getting older but ageing is such a blessing. The alternative is dying, so let’s celebrate those lines and wrinkles instead. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not quite there with accepting my looks. I’ve got a bit of a sleepy eye these days and apparently Botox is the way to fix it, but I don’t really want fake stuff in my skin.”

While she has no qualms in avoiding surgical treatments to stave off the hands of time, she was forced to accept a breast augmentation in 2014 when she had a double mastectomy after battling cancer. Speaking of her acceptance of having fake boobs, she said: "Yes, I have fake boobs because of my cancer, but you won’t catch me with a BBL. I’ve got scars on my breasts and they’re not attractive, but when I look at them I’m not upset. It’s the same for my wrinkles. They tell my story of survival and resilience, the fact that I’m still here and getting older - what a privilege."

As her 58th fast approaches on April 7, Michaela says she has not given it a second thought this year as her and her family have faced a number of devastating blows. Firstly, her partner Nick's mother sadly passed away aged 96. And then her friend lost her battle to the same cancer as Michaela - and this may explain why she is determined to live her life to the max.

Instead of throwing a party, the TV star says she wants to celebrate with experiences such as hiking up a mountain with friends. Swapping a party lifestyle for a more wholesome one, Michaela said she now goes for long walks and prefers to have meaningful conversations.

And this takes place on her latest TV show which also includes Christine McGuiness and Spencer Matthews, called Pilgrimage. During all three episodes which started last month, the stars walk along Pilgrim's Way in North Wales where they discuss life, death and beliefs along their journey.
