The first two episodes of Sugar landed on Friday and have left fans gripped.

Writing on social media, one watcher said: "The new Colin Farrell show SUGAR on AppleTV is utterly brilliant. The way they’ve filmed it, with films of old Hollywood and classic movies interspersed into the narrative, is so cool."

A second wrote: "Finished the first two episodes of Sugar on Apple TV and it’s fantastic so far!! Colin Farrell is fantastic in this. The writing is slick/sharp."

"This show Sugar on Apple TV with Colin Farrell is great. He plays an American, so more proof that it’s not just the Irish accent — it’s the whole package. I’ve always loved Colin," said a third.

Meanwhile, Irishman Colin, who has starred in a raft of movies such as Batman, The Gentlemen and Saving Mr Banks, could have had a completely different career.

Louis Walsh name-dropped the star in the Celebrity Big Brother house and revealed he once auditioned to be part of a huge boyband.

“I know him very well as he auditioned for Boyzone and he told me he wanted to be an actor, I knew him from Dublin," said the 66-year-old music mogul.
