GALAXY TRUFFLES were once a staple of Celebrations boxes but they have since been replaced by a less popular option.
The treat has joined the likes of Cadbury Dreams and KitKat Senses in the land of "lost" chocolate but there are still ways to sample the discontinued snack.
What were Galaxy Truffles?
Galaxy Truffles were individually wrapped chocolates that were part of Celebrations boxes.
They were not available to buy on their own.
Each sweet had a velvety chocolate centre with a hard but delicious outer shell.

They were part of Celebrations from the brand's launch in 1997 until they were discontinued and replaced in the boxes with another sweet.
The original Celebrations boxes contained mini versions of Mars Bar, Bounty, Snickers, Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel, Maltesers Teaser, Milky Way, Topic and Galaxy Truffle.
Why and when were Galaxy Truffles discontinued?
Galaxy Truffles were discontinued in 2011.
Confectionery bosses Mars, who own brands including Galaxy and Milkyway, swapped out the truffles for Twixes.
Topics were also removed from boxes of Celebrations in 2006 and have since been taken out of production completely.
There haven't been any other major switches in the Celebrations collection since it launched.
Chocolate lovers started an online petition in 2018, demanding Mars reverse the decision to remove the Galaxy Truffles.
The petition was started by Sean Duggan and had hoped to get the support of 10,000 people in total.
As of 2024 the campaign had only garnered just over 1,500 signatures.
Furious by the decision to replace Galaxy Truffles with Twixes, Sean wrote in the petition's description: "Let's get the Truffle back and let the company know that we don't want something that was so popular to be replaced with something so mediocre.

"Let us show not only the heartbreak of something so delicious being taken away, but to show that this should never happen again!"
How can I still get Galaxy Truffles?
In 2019 it appeared that Mars had listened to the demands of those who wanted to see Galaxy Truffles return to shelves.
The company revealed that Galaxy Truffles were to become available in Tesco stores, in store and online, with no specific end date.
Rather than being a part of Celebrations boxes, these Galaxy Truffles come in their own box and cost £5 for 190g (as of March 2024).
At the time of their return, Sarah Mellor, Galaxy Brand Director said: "We are extremely excited to be launching Galaxy Truffles in the UK this year and to be entering the all year-round gifting market for the first time as a brand.
"For so many, Galaxy Truffles were part of a much-loved festive tradition and we are thrilled to be answering the undeniable demand, reinventing this favourite, now available all year round, as the perfect gift to bring pleasure to the next generation of Galaxy fans."
Some customers have complained online that the new version of Galaxy Truffles are not as good as the original.
They are described by Tesco as "a shell of Galaxy milk chocolate" filled with an "intensely chocolatey truffle centre" so they may still satisfy those who have missed their presence in Celebrations.
Additionally, in March 2024, McDonald's revealed that one of their new desserts would feature Galaxy Truffles - albeit in small pieces.
The fast-food giant launched six items in time for Easter, including the Truffle Bunny McFlurry.
The dessert combines soft ice cream swirled with pieces of Galaxy Truffle, bunny ears, and white and dark chocolate drops.
It is then topped with Galaxy chocolate sauce.
The Truffle Bunny McFlurry, along with the other Easter items, will be available on McDonald's menus across the UK and Ireland from March 13.
