Jennifer Lopez is facing a huge backlash as fans slammed the singer for reportedly “lying” about her upbringing.

The 54-year-old recently released her documentary on Amazon Prime This Is Me...Now: A Love Story which gave a behind-the-scenes look into her new album titled This Is Me...Now and the accompanying movie The Greatest Love Story Never Told and her rekindling romance with husband Ben Affleck. However, some fans who watched it weren't impressed and took to social media to blast the singer for allegedly exaggerating claims about her upbringing in the Bronx, New York during the doc.

In one scene, Jennifer poses in the mirror of her personal gym as she shakes out her hair and reminisces about her childhood in the Bronx. “I like taking my hair out like this. It reminds me, like, when I was 16 in the Bronx, running up and down the block. Crazy little girl who used to f***ing be wild and no limits, all dreams,” she mused.

However, TikTok user photosbyangela slammed the star in a series of videos, as she claimed to have gone to the same Catholic high school as Jennifer, and accused her of “lying” about her experience living in the Bronx. She fired: “We both attended an all-girls high school in an Irish and Italian neighbourhood, so you weren’t ‘running up and down the block.’”

Fans then began to unearth more unsavoury revelations from old interviews, and in a chat with Vogue in 2022, Jennifer was asked about her upbringing in the Bronx as she revealed what her regular order was at local bodegas. “Ham and cheese on a roll with an orange drink. If you know you know,” she added, but TikTok users were baffled by her order.

“What the f*** is an orange drink?” one asked as they questioned the authenticity of the order. However, Jenny from the Block doesn't seem to be phased by the online hate as she revels in her relationship with Ben that she thought would never have again.

The two Hollywood stars dated in the early noughties, getting engaged and breaking up days before the wedding. The two went on to marry other people - Jennifer married Marc Anthony and Ben married actress Jennifer Garner.

After their marriages ended and the two found themselves single again, the ex-fiancees started dating again in 2021. They married the next year in a low-key Las Vegas wedding.

About how her marriage inspired her album, Jennifer told Zane Lowe: "He's my biggest fan, which is awesome, and supporter. When he came back into my life again, the same thing happened where I felt so inspired and so overtaken with emotion that it was just pouring out of me."
