JEREMY Clarkson has shared a sombre update from his popular farming show, admitting that the world of agriculture saw him facing a lot of unexpected challenges.

The TV presenter is gearing up for a third series of Clarkson's Farm, which sees a camera crew follow him around Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton.

Jeremy manages the animal-filled thousand acres with the help of farmers Kaleb Cooper, Charlie and Gerald Cooper.

He has now opened up about recent difficulties he faced on the farm, sighing: "Behind the scenes, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong."

LIVESTOCK TRAGEDY

The former Top Gear host was left crushed after a promising litter of piglets faced tragic deaths.

He spoke about his high hopes for the animals when they were born, explaining the reason why he turned his focus to pig farming rather than dairy.

Jeremy told the Times: "A cow has one calf, whereas the last bout of births we had, one of our pigs had fourteen piglets.

"That’s a lot of money. I reckoned the pigs would provide something that’s sadly lacking in farming today: a bit of genuine happiness."

Unfortunately, his joy soon turned into sorrow as some of the piglets were accidentally crushed by their mothers, and others died of natural causes in infancy.

"It was almost unbelievably sad," he added mournfully. "We had a catastrophically high level of deaths."

Jeremy's spring barley and potato crops then went on to be destroyed by a scorching hot June and torrential March.

Despite all the mishaps, he is still slogging away in the brave attempt to make a life for himself in the countryside.

One of his recent projects involved trying to get permission for farmhand Kaleb Cooper to live in a caravan by Diddly Squat.
