Manchester City defender Kerstin Casparij has been suspended for one match by the Football Association for making an offensive gesture during last month's Manchester derby in the Barclay's Women's Super League.
The 23-year-old, who joined City from FC Twente in 2022, has also been fined £1,634.61 for her actions.
The suspension of the Netherlands international has been issued after Casparij made an offensive gesture towards Manchester United's away contingent during the first-half of the Citizens' 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on 23 March.
According to a statement issued by the FA, Casparij "admitted her conduct during the 37th minute was offensive, insulting and abusive". A n independent Regulatory Commission imposed the sanctions following a hearing.
The suspension will see Casparij miss City's Women's Super League clash against West Ham United this Sunday as the league returns following the international break.

City currently sit top of the WSL on 43 points and three points clear of the title rivals Chelsea, albeit having played a game more than the reigning league champions. The title race has been blistering all season with Gareth Taylor's side bidding to claim their first title in the manager's tenure and upend the Blues' hegemony in manager Emma Hayes' final season with the club.

A first-half brace from Jess Park put City ahead of their Mancunian rivals, though some controversy surrounded Park's opener due to Khadija Shaw being well offside in the build-up.
Even so, Shaw wrote her name on the score sheet shortly after the restart to put the match beyond doubt, assisted by the scintillating Park. An own goal from Casparij was a slim form of consolation for the travelling United faithful, who saw their hopes of a potential second chance at European football all but dashed with the defeat.
