WILLIE Peters insists revenge is not on the agenda for Hull KR – pressure for positions and not being comfortable should be.

Hull KR face Leigh in tomorrow’s Challenge Cup quarter final - a repeat of last year’s final, which the Leopards won 17-16 in golden point extra time.

But the boss is adamant avenging that loss is not their motivation as they aim for a Wembley return.

Peters said: “A lot of people have those plot things around what happened last year but we certainly haven’t.

"It's not been mentioned at all. If you talk about Wembley, you bring up negative emotions.

“It’s a different year, it’s a new year – the quarter final of the Challenge Cup 2024 is all we’re focusing on.

“That’s what we’re about – strong performances each week in Super League but in that you can lose and play well.

“In this, it’s sudden death and you need to win. It’s about going out and winning this week, we know how we’re going to go about that and Leigh are a very good team.

“We know they’ll be coming here with the same mindset.

“We were fortunate enough to play in the final last year and the reality is you want more of that. You want to play in those big games. We haven’t been quiet about that.”

Rovers appear to have kicked on after last year’s fourth-placed finish and Wembley place, with a deeper squad.

And Peters believes having that competition for places can propel them to glory, as not being comfortable brings that best from everyone.

He added: “That’s what every team strives for.

“You want to have competition for spots, you want to have depth, you want to have players who aren’t comfortable or feeling that if they don’t have the right attitude or not performing at training, they know someone else is there to take their spot.

“When you have that, that’s when you have more success.

“Some players and people don’t want that but there are no guarantees in life. At the level these guys play at, coaches, high end executives, your job’s not safe, you need to do it every day.”
