Alex Pereira KO'd Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 to defend his light-heavyweight world title.

Pereira was looking to make the first defence of his belt at the mega-event since winning the title with a KO against Jiri Prochazka last November. Former champion Hill was fighting for the chance to win the belt that he never officially lost, but was forced to vacate after rupturing his achilles.

The champion landed some good kicks early on and hill just missed with a big overhand counter. Hill landed a low blow with a body kick but Pereira didn't want to halt the action and dropped the American with his trademark left hook just moments later, ending the fight with follow-up ground-and-pound.

"You guys can see what I was doing in there. I told everyone that he was a strong guy and I couldn’t go away from my strategy. I was getting the distance and my timing, everything went perfect. I don’t let this belt go to my head, I have to come in here and win it to become the champion. I want to continue defending this belt," Pereira said after his win.

Elsewhere on the UFC 300 card, women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili defended her belt with a points win against Yan Xiaonan in the first ever China vs China UFC title fight. Max Holloway scored a last-second KO to win the 'BMF' belt as he left Justin Gaethje face-down in a highlight-reel finish.

Arman Tsarukyan punched a fan whilst walking to the cage for his hard-fought points win against Charles Oliveira and Bo Nickal remained unbeaten by tapping out Cody Brundage. Prochazka put himself in pole position for another world title shot by KO'ing Aleksandr Rakic in a back and forth fight whilst two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison won her UFC debut against Holly Holm.

Diego Lopes scored a stunning 89-second KO against Sodiq Yusuff whilst Jessica Andrade and Aljamain Sterling were also in the win column. Bobby Green left veteran Jim Miller leaking blood in a dominant points win whilst Deiveson Figueiredo tapped out Cody Garbrandt in the opening fight of the night.
