Lucy Mecklenburgh has shared what she "hates" doing as a mum.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 32, was left heartbroken as she said a sad goodbye to her four-year-old son Roman and fiancé Ryan Thomas. She was waved off by her boys as she boarded a train to Essex before flying off to Portugal. Lucy shared a snap of Ryan holding onto a crying Roman as he said goodbye.
Mum-of-two Lucy said: “I going to Essex then Portugal I hate being away from the kids." She also added the caption: "My heart” alongside a broken heart emoji. However, she later shared a snap from the airport as she confessed: “Flying without kids = Heaven!” The TV star headed to Faro where she met her pals for a fitness and wellbeing getaway in the sun.
The young family only just returned from their holiday to Dubai where they had chance to enjoy quality time together after Ryan's Dancing On Ice win. He was crowned winner of the ITV competition alongside pro-skater Amani Fancy. Speaking to The Mirror and other press as he came to the end of the show, he shared: " I never thought I'd hear the day she's [Lucy] looking forward to hearing me come home! She said the house is tidy!"

The family recently enjoyed a holiday to Dubai (Instagram/ @ryanthomas84)He added: "It's really tough [being away], I've not seen my kids really at all. Maybe once a week, if that, and sometimes I don't see them in that week as I'm travelling." The Coronation Street star revealed he wanted to take his family away after the show. They enjoyed a stay in the lavish Rixos The Palm Hotel, costing £1000 a night with their two children, Roman and Lilah.

Lucy and Ryan met in 2017 during their time on the Channel 4 program Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. After two years of romance, the ex-Corrie star proposed to his other half during a romantic stay in Italy. They welcomed Roman and Lilah, respectively born in March, 2020 and May, 2022. Ryan is also the father of Scarlett Thomas, born in 2008, whom he shares with former Coronation Street co-star and ex-girlfriend Tina O'Brien.
Last month Ryan revealed to The Mirror when he plans to tie the knot with Lucy. When the length of their engagement came up, Ryan said: “Don’t remind her.” He joked he would set a date once they “stop having children” and their brood can walk down the aisle with them. However, he thought Lucy may have been dropping hints by wearing white to the rink.
He said: “She turned up in a wedding outfit to DOI and I said, ‘Darling this isn’t your moment.’” Ryan added: “The biggest hero in all of this is Lucy. She gave me the chance to do this, and looking after the children at home is probably a harder job. I am very lucky that she has given me this freedom to be able to do this job.”
