WHATSAPP fans are not impressed with the latest update that's changed the app green.

A number of users have complained about the "ugly" change appearing on their iPhones.

"The new WhatsApp interface is not a vibe at all, from blue to green. How ? Why?" one person wrote on X.

"WhatsApp, if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it," another said.

These changes bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible and easier to use

"Yucking the new green color and the sentence case leading!"

A third added: "WhatsApp needs to chill with these unnecessary changes. Why the hell are my icons green."

WhatsApp started testing new green coloured button a few months back but a fresh slew of negative comments on social media suggest it may now have rolled out widely.

The Android version has always had green icons but on iPhone it has traditionally had blue ones - until now.

WhatsApp owner Meta said: "We’ve made some changes to how WhatsApp looks and feels, including spacing, colors, icons and more.

"These changes bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible and easier to use."

Can I change WhatsApp's colour?

Unfortunately it's not possible to change the colour of WhatsApp.

According to Meta, everyone who uses WhatsApp will eventually receive this update, "so it’s not something you can opt out of".

"If you can’t see these changes yet, there may be a short wait before they reach everyone," the company explained on its website.

Age change

Colour changes aren't the only shake-up for WhatsApp recently.

In more serious developments, the messaging app lowered the age limit for the messaging app on Friday from 16 to 13.

The move has been criticised by campaigners who have called it "tone deaf".

Some 60,000 parents have signed the campaign group Smartphone Free Childhood against the age change.

Daisy Greenwell, the campaign’s co-founder, told The Telegraph the policy boosted Meta's profits at the expense of children's safety.

She said: “WhatsApp are putting shareholder profits first and children’s safety second. Reducing their age of use from 16 to 13 years old is completely tone deaf and ignores the increasingly loud alarm bells being rung by scientists, doctors, teachers, child safety experts, parents and mental health experts alike.
