LATE crime kingpin Jamie Daniel’s son went AWOL from jail after a failed hit, gangland sources claim.
They say the gun jammed and Zander Sutherland, 35, bolted – failing to return to his open nick in Dundee after a Glasgow home visit.
Sources say the rival pulled the trigger on Zander Sutherland, 35, outside his mother’s home in Charing Cross, Glasgow.
But the heroin dealer — on leave from Castle Huntly open prison — survived after the gun apparently failed to fire.
He is now said to have fled the country.

An insider said: “The day before he was due to go back to jail, some guy dressed as a postman aimed an automatic gun at him.
“It’s said he pulled the trigger three or four times but it jammed so Sutherland just legged it.
“The word is he got on a flight to mainland Europe that day, and he’s now left the continent so he can’t get done with a European Arrest Warrant.”
Sutherland failed to return to the jail last Thursday.
It is believed he has a number of enemies relating to the Daniels and Lyons feud, drugs baron Mark Richardson, and a recent prison dispute connected to another crime Mr Big.
The source said: “Zander was due out soon. It’s only natural he’d become a big target for the Lyons.
“He’s tight with Richardson. It’s this relationship which brought Richardson and the Daniels together.
“Richardson has a lot of enemies who’ve attacked his associates. Look at what happened with Brad Welsh.”
T2 Trainspotting star Bradley, 48, was shot dead outside his Edinburgh home in 2019.
Jamie Daniel, who died of cancer aged 58 in 2016, led a notorious Glasgow crime family embroiled in a murderous feud with the Lyons.

Cops hunting Sutherland said: “He is not deemed a risk to the wider community.”
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “We are working with police to return him to custody.”
